Music and dance are integral part of Indian culture.To preserve and propagate Indian Music and Dance which includes both Karnatic and Hindustani music, and Dance forms like Kathak, Bharathnatyam, Kuchipudi, Perini, the erstwhile government of united Andhra Pradesh started institutions of Music and Dance.

The Telangana state after its formation to fulfill the dreams of Telangana people under leadership of our Honourable Chief Minister has inherited six institutions of Music and Dance. Sri Gyana Saraswathi Government School of Music and Dance is one of the oldest Music and Dance institution in the state of Telangana. The institution was established in the year 1972 under the Department of Technical Education.
